Online Message from Pastor Dave
Hello Church Family,
It has been a challenging time for everyone across every area of life as we make adjustments due to the current pandemic. I’m so grateful we have had the opportunity to meet together in person in this region as a church; following the current Phase 2 restrictions of 30% capacity. We will also continue to produce our services online for those who would still feel more comfortable watching the service at home. Whichever way you choose to participate in the life of New Song Church during this time, each of us has to do what we feel at peace about, while being respectful of each other's choices.
One of the challenges to recently come to light is the issue of singing. Each local regional health unit is responsible for implementing local regulations based on the rates of transmission in the region. Our region, unlike some other higher risk regions at this time, has not banned singing in churches but has requested churches do "limiting singing and loud speaking.” That phrase becomes a very subjective interpretation as each church's expression of worship varies. While we still have permission to sing, we want to do so in a way that reduces the risk as best as we currently understand. What everyone who attends must realize is there is no way for us to completely remove all risk of transmission. There is risk involved every time we step out of our house. Knowing that, each of us has to determine for ourselves, or for those under our care, what level of risk we are comfortable with.
We are asking everyone who wants to participate in the in-person services to: (besides the ones already implemented regarding practicing social distancing, hand sanitizing stations, washing hands etc.)
1. Everyone who wants to participate in singing is asked to wear a mask during the worship.
2. The length of our worship time is reduced, with us singing fewer songs.
3. Songs that are more low key, not as fast paced, will be chosen.
4. More than 12 ft. separates those leading the worship time and the front row.
5. Everyone is to leave the building in an orderly fashion, row by row, once the service is dismissed.
6. In line with what other churches and businesses are doing, everyone is to sign a waiver stating they understand the risk involved in attending a worship service and not hold the church or its leaders responsible should they catch any virus or sickness as a result of attending.
Shannon and I would love the opportunity to meet up, either in an online meeting or an appropriately distanced meet up, to hear what’s happening in your life these days, answer any concerns, pray with you, or just hang out and have a good time.
We are in new territory here as leaders trying to navigate all of this. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we have had to process things quickly and make decisions. I encourage you to use this time to draw closer to Him through spending time in the Word of God, worship and prayer.
Lot’s of Love,
Dave and Shannon Mischuk
